Armand Hombroeckx (1950) is a well-known blues musician who has been playing authentic Leuven blues for almost 50 years. He was also one of the co-founders of Marktrock, the first and then largest city festival in Europe that took place annually in this city from 1982 to 2015 and which was the very successful part of the Leuven summer animation, today known as 'Het Groot Verlof'.
Under the name ‘Big Bill’ Armand made classics such as 'Ene me hesp', 'de Kroege van d'aa met', ‘Tes ka', 'Stoose Blues', always in the juicy Leuven dialect.
Every year since 1986 he has been playing wholeheartedly during the Libertad festivities in the cafe which is now also your hotel bar.
It is therefore obvious that this On Stage Room, located just above 'his' stage, is named after him.
After all, a considerable number of well-known Belgian musicians were part of his band. For example, the in Belgium world-famous musicians Jean-Marie Aerts, Jean Blaute, Paul 'Lange Polle' Van Bruystegem, Mich Verbelen, Stoy Stoffelen, Jokke Kerkhofs... played in his band and Jean Vandooren is still his loyal companion.
