Bart Ramakers has been an internationally renowned photographer for many years, best known for his nude photography.
This photographer, originally from Limburg, ended up in Leuven as a history student in the early 1980s and during this period had his regular bar stool at the bar of the Libertad, the illustrious café that is located below this hotel.
He graduated and threw himself into the advertising world, was about the very first to dive into the digital copy world, but after a successful period decided to refocus on his real passion: photography.
And of course it had to be more than portrait or landscape photography.
Ramakers reworks classical mythological and religious themes in the light of topical events: gender equality, climate change and solidarity.
He creates his own wonderful dream worlds, eagerly using his knowledge of history, religion, fables, parables, legends,…
His always multi-layered works are not only exhibited in various galleries in Brussels, Knokke, Kuurne,... but also in Paris, Turin and Monaco.
He also collaborated with artists such as Panamarenko, Cecilia Paredes, Tom Herck and William Sweetlove, just to name a few.
Bart paints with his camera and creates the wildest scenes, whereby the actors look like they come straight from various fantasy worlds.
He makes eager yet sober use of not always functional nudity and creates at least an illusion of seductive sensuality or honest.
In earlier times, some hotels were authentic boudoirs, but no one can create and display a boudoir in such an unsurpassed way as Bart Ramakers.
